Itinerary

Arrive at Edinburgh airport and collect your rental car. Spend the evening at leisure, settling in after your journey and enjoying the vibrant surroundings of Scotland’s capital. Check in to your Edinburgh hotel where you will spend the next two nights.

Explore Edinburgh’s highlights, beginning with a visit to the iconic Edinburgh Castle, perched majestically above the city. In the afternoon, enjoy the Johnnie Walker Experience, where you can learn about Scotland’s famous whisky and enjoy a tasting session.

Depart Edinburgh and head south into the scenic Scottish Borders. Stop at the world-famous Rosslyn Chapel, renowned for its intricate stonework and fascinating history. Continue to Peebles where you will stay for two nights.

Spend the day exploring the Scottish Borders. Visit Abbotsford House, the historic home of Sir Walter Scott, and take in its beautiful gardens and literary heritage.

Depart the Scottish Borders and drive south towards Newcastle. Along the way, visit Alnwick Castle, an impressive medieval fortress with rich history and stunning gardens, followed by Chester's Roman Fort, a remarkable site along adrian’s Wall. Spend the next two nights in Newcastle.

Explore Newcastle at your leisure. You might enjoy a riverside walk along the Quayside, a visit to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, or take in the historic Newcastle Castle for panoramic city views.

Depart Newcastle and journey to the Lake District, a scenic drive through rolling hills, charming villages, and the rugged landscapes of northern England. Arrive in Windermere where you will enjoy a two night stay.

Enjoy a day exploring the Lake District. Join a half day tour through picturesque lakes, hidden valleys, and dramatic mountain scenery.

Depart the Lake District and drive to Glasgow. On the way, visit the Moffat Distillery for a tour and tasting experience. Arrive in Glasgow where you will stay for two nights.

Start the day with a shared walking tour of Glasgow, discovering the city’s architecture, history, and vibrant culture. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, consider visiting the Kelvingrove Museum, where entry is free. Beer lovers may wish to take a Tennent's Brewery Tour and discover their 450 year brewing history.

Drive back to Edinburgh, stopping at Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s grandest historic sites, on the way. Explore its impressive halls and stunning views. If time permits, also visit the Wallace Monument, the climb to the top rewards you with stunning views. Arrive back in Edinburgh for a final overnight stay.

Check out from your hotel and return your rental car.
